Born in 1976 in Istanbul, Menekşe Polatcan Serbest graduated from Istek Foundation Bilge Kağan College and Boğaziçi University, Department of Philosophy (1999). Following her graduation, she received her master’s degree in human resources from Istanbul University, Faculty of Economics in 2002.
In 2013, she was accepted to and graduated from the 10.000 Women Entrepreneurs Program conducted in cooperation with Goldman Sachs and Özyeğin University.
Serbest, whose book reviews have been published in various business magazines, Radikal Kitap and Dünya Newspaper Book Review Magazine, has given Written Communication training to many corporate companies and taught human resources and business administration courses at Yeditepe and Bahçeşehir Universities for six years.
In 2008, she published nearly 200 books under the trademark Hümanist Kitap (Hümanist Ajans A.Ş.), which she established by adopting a non-fiction-oriented publishing line and has since been awarded with 4 books in Platin Magazine Business Books Awards in 2017 and 2021.
Serbest founded her second company, Dünya Bizim Gıda Ticaret A.Ş. in November 2022, inspired by the blends she developed in the 200 m2 third-generation café within Humanist Bookstore, which she opened in Kadıköy Kozyatağı in 2019. She is still working with pleasure to publish quality books and to introduce specialty Turkish Coffee to the world and to develop its market share.
